SMP - Enter a return to work date in a previous pay period. The system only allows you to enter the return to work date in the current period, therefore if an employee re-engages in a previous month the SMP overpayment which needs to be recovered and reported to the HMRC needs to be adjusted manually. This causes problems if the manual adjustment isn't done correctly also the records we hold on the system are incorrect and do not match company records.
| Describe the Challenge | If the system allowed you to enter an earlier date this should automatically calculate and recover the over payment of SMP from the employee. Most importantly it will submit the amended details to the HMRC ensure all records are accurate and correct. |
