In the real world, women can be made redundant or leave their job after the 15th week before their due date and before maternity leave & pay starts. We need to be able to update a new SMP schedule from the outset to be able to pay it as a lump sum so that if any HMRC forwarding funding is received, this is correctly allocated against the full lump sum payment.

Customer Challenge
Unless at least one SMP payment has already occurred, Paycircle will not allow you to make a lump-sum payment through an SMP schedule. This has a knock-on effect with P30 / P32 being incorrect if you then use the only option left, which is to use the SMP pay element instead, as the incorrect amount of forwarding funding is not allocated against the total of SMP actually paid using this method. This then requires manual intervention and manipulation of the HMRC payment reports, which introduces delay, confusion and a potential for errors. |
