Keep columns on reports static and allow us to order pay elements

Clients would like to see their report in the same order each week and they would prefer for columns to disappear one week and reappear the next. they are struggling to follow the reports with the constant changes. the main report causing issues is the standard payroll summary report

Customer Challenge

Make reports easier and give clients what they expect rather than reports that change order and miss columns. this causes confusion on each pay run.

Short answer: no, you can’t fix the order of pay elements in a pay element report.Pay element reports list each element as its own line (for example Hours Worked, Overtime, etc.), and the report organises those lines based on the payroll data and the sort settings. Because of that, the order can change from week to week depending on which elements appear in that payroll period. You can choose which columns appear in the report, but the report itself still sorts the data when it runs. For your second question:

  • No — pay elements that have no value in that payroll period won’t appear in the report. The report only shows elements that are actually used in that payroll.

So in practice:

  • Fixed column order for pay elements → not possible

Business Case

Im sure many other customers of paycircle would like to be able to lock down the reports so that they remain as expected. they would also be happy to be able to select pay elements rather than gross additions.
