Directors NI

The 'standard' and 'alternative' methods of calculating directors NI are not clear during set up. It says the 'alternative' method is for directors paid regularly - but it then calculates NI when it shouldn't until they hit the limit. But 'standard' says it is for directors paid irregularly. Regardless of how regular or irregular the directors payments are, the default should be that they do not pay until they hit limit, unless they choose to. This is misleading and needs to be made more clear on the set up process.

Hey, this has now been updated in Paycircle!

    • The options in the company details form have been updated to 'Standard (cumulative)' and 'Alternative (non-cumulative)'

    • The 'NI Method' column in the team importer has been updated to accept 'Cumulative' and 'Non-cumulative' values

    • The employee details reports have been updated to report the 'Director NI Method' as 'Standard (cumulative)' or 'Alternative (non-cumulative)'

The description would be better to show cumulative or non cumulative as this would be much easier to understand as a payroller. You could then select your preference. We prefer our client to pay each month than wait until the limit is reached as otherwise they forget to pay HMRC but that is preference for each bureau
