Options for Occupational Pay Policy calculation methods

Currently when adding a parental pay schedule you can only make it calculate itself in line with the calculation method for SMP which is fine for some situations but does mean that it's not suitable for a lot of clients who may want the top up calculated in the same way as the normal salary calculation method.

For example - if we had an employee going on mat leave on 1st July 25 on £30k per annum who had 8 weeks full pay, 4 weeks half pay (inclusive of SMP) and then SMP only we would want the system to do the following.

1st July to 31st July - full month is at full pay so £2500 becomes the target gross and therefore the top up = £2500 less the SMP value for 1st to 31st July.

1st August to 25th August is full pay and then 26th to 31st August is half pay. So for this either do 17 days full pay plus 4 days half pay (using 260 day method) or deduct 2 days half pay from the full month to get the target gross. Then offset 1st to 31st August worth of SMP. If the circumstance was that the SMP was on top of the half pay then it would just not offset the 26th to 31st worth.

1st to 22nd September at half pay then SMP. So for the top up the target gross to 22nd would be 16 days of half pay based on 260 days and then offset 22 days of SMP. Then 23rd onwards becomes SMP only.

At present there is also only the option of selecting weeks, whereas many policies will say 3 months full, 3 months half for example. Therefore having the option to select this and have the system calculate the end date for each and then work out the schedule in the same way would make it usable in this scenario too.

Describe the Challenge Making the parental pay policies usable for bureau who cannot force clients to adapt their policies due to system constraints.
